The moments parents reach for a kids game are exactly the moments connectivity is worst: boarding a flight, a long drive, a waiting room with no signal. A game that needs a server turns into a spinner; a game built to run on the device just keeps going. JMH games load everything at install time, so gameplay never waits for a connection.
Offline play has a quieter benefit too: with no network in use there is nothing to stream, nothing to load mid-session and no surprise content arriving from outside — what you checked at install is what your child plays.
Before a trip: a 2-minute checklist
Download the games at home and open each one once — that completes any first-run setup while you still have Wi-Fi. On the road, airplane mode is your friend: gameplay is unaffected, and the store itself is out of reach, so nothing new can be downloaded without you.
