About the game

ABC for Kids: Phonics, Tracing teaches the alphabet through the hands: children trace letter shapes with a finger, hear each letter's sound, and step from single letters toward first syllables. Colors and shape names come along for the ride — a compact first-literacy toolkit built as a game, not a workbook.

What kids can do in the game

  • Trace letters with a finger along guided paths
  • Hear each letter’s phonic sound as you learn it
  • Step from letters toward reading first syllables
  • Learn colors and shape names along the way
  • Revisit any letter at any time

How it works

Tracing is the core loop: a big friendly letter appears with a glowing path, the child traces it, and the letter comes alive with its sound. Motor memory and phonics build together.

Levels sequence the alphabet into small victories, and the syllable steps arrive only after the letters feel familiar — the pace belongs to the child.

For parents

  • Phonics-first approach: sounds before letter names
  • Finger tracing builds letter shapes through motor memory
  • Free to download; extra levels behind a parental gate
  • Linked here to the official App Store release

Frequently asked questions

At what age should we start?+

Whenever letters become interesting — typically around four; tracing works even earlier as pure shape play.

Does it teach reading fully?+

It covers the foundations: letter shapes, phonic sounds and first syllables. It is a starting toolkit, not a complete reading curriculum.

Is it free?+

Free to download and play, with optional content behind a parental gate.

Why phonics rather than letter names?+

Sounds are what blend into words — starting from phonics makes the jump to reading syllables far more natural.

Where can I download it?+

From the official App Store page linked here.
